OBITUARY Arlane “Al” Ellsworth Spangrud August 29, 1921 – December 5, 2018 Arlane “Al” Ellsworth Spangrud, 97, of Rockford, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. Born August 29, 1921 in Starbuck, MN. Son of Alfred and Edna (Thompson) Spangrud.

He moved to Rockford in 1941 where he met Lila Conrad whom he married in Westfield, WI on June 20, 1943. She predeceased him on October 21, 1996. Employed as a machine set-up man for J.L. Clark Manufacturing.

Past member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Present member of St Mark Lutheran Church. Member of Sons of Norway, Lutheran Brotherhood and Independent Order of Foresters.

Fan of Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins. Found enjoyment in tending to his vegetable garden and fruit trees, playing Bingo and attending grandkids sporting events. Together with Lila he enjoyed spending winter months after the holidays in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Survived by his children, Thomas (Linda) Spangrud, Lynette (Wayne) Ax, Lori (Steve) Merrick, David (Lori) Spangrud; grandchildren, Adam (Brittany) Spangrud, Carrie (Derek) Hatfield, Megan (Josh) Grotheer, Julie (John) Rogler, Stacey (Simmons) Wyche, Daniel (Tricia) Merrick, Samuel Spangrud, Benjamin Spangrud, Sophie Spangrud; great-grandchildren, Lilah Wyche, Samuel Rogler, Jack Spangrud, Elliott Grotheer; brother, Raymond “Bill” Spangrud, sister-in-law, Carole Spangrud; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; wife, Lila; brother, Thomas Spangrud; sister-in-law, Mildred “Mo” Spangrud. Private Family Funeral Service was held at Sunset Funeral Home.

Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
