Arlene’s Obituary Arlene Bewley, 90, of Topeka passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 in Topeka. She was born June 27, 1928 the daughter of Loren and Cleo (Silvey) Foltz on a farm near Hale, MO. Three months later Chleo died from ruptured appendix.

Arlene lived with her maternal grandparents, Joe and Weltha Silvey, until they passed. She attended Missouri schools until she moved to Denver, Colorado, where she graduated from high school in 3 years. While in the high school band she met her future husband, Howard A. Bewley, Jr. After graduation, they married.

He died in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her only sister, Maxine McCollum. Arlene worked at the telephone company but took a leave to raise her family.

She returned to the company for 20 more years. While in Denver, Arlene volunteered over 1000 hours at St. Anthony’s hospital. In Topeka, she continued volunteering and served 20 years at Stormont-Vail.

She moved to Topeka in 1992 to be the caregiver for her uncle and aunt who then adopted her. She is survived by her children Jim (Karen) Bewley, Ranaye Marsh, and Belyn Ledbetter, who was her caregiver. Belyn lived in the home and took special care of her mother for 15 years.

Arlene had 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Arlene was a Christian from her youth. Funeral services will be Monday, January 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.

Family will greet friends from 1:00 – service time Monday. Interment will be at the Cameron Cemetery in Hale, Missouri at a later date. Donations can be sent to Heartland Worship Center, 1401 NW Harrison, Topeka 66608.
