OBITUARY Armond Carter Simmons August 21, 1935 – September 29, 2018 Armond “Si” Carter Simmons Services for Armond C. Simmons will be held Wednesday at 3:00pm at Kilgroe Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Mr. Simmons, 83, of Pell City, Alabama passed away in the early hours of Saturday, September 28, 2018. He was surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Simmons was born and raised in Complete (Meridian), Mississippi and earned a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from Mississippi State University.

He was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. Mr. Simmons was one of the original pioneers of the helicopter medical evacuation called “Dustoff”. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 24 years of military service.

He also served 15 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lydia S. Simmons; sons, John Philip of Gainesville, VA, William Roger (Merita) of Talladega, AL, and Scott Carter (Shannon) of Helena, AL; 7 grandchildren, Bryan, Brady, Brandon, Morgan and Carter Simmons, Tommy Barber and Christy Barber Roberts; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Margaret Jackson; sisters in law, Nita Simmons, Nellie Simmons, Jane Schmidt and Suzanne Condon; many loving neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, R. Kelly Simmons; mother, Madoline Simmons; sisters, Frances S. Sparacino, Evelyn Sykes, and Mary Ann Shannon; brothers, Dr. Marion Simmons, Dr. Tommy Simmons, Dr. William Simmons, Johnny Simmons, and Robert Kelly Simmons, Jr. Pallbearers will be Chris Simmons, Andrew Simmons, David Simmons, Gary Jackson, Bryan Simmons, Brady Simmons, Brandon Simmons, and Walker Spivey.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:30pm until service time at the funeral home. Any donations can be made to the National Alzheimer’s Association.
