Arthur Frederick Fleser died on March 27, 2018, at Wesley Village in Wilmore, KY. He was born March 14, 1923, in Burnips, MI, to William and Grace Fleser. He taught English at Columbus High School in Indiana (3 years) and Speech Communication at Pasadena College (1 year).

While teaching Speech Communication at Geneva College (10 years) and Asbury University (26 years), he also served as chair of their respective departments. He retired from Asbury University in 1988. Art earned a BA from John Fletcher College in Iowa, an MA from Iowa State University, and a PhD from Indiana University.

He was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church and of Wilmore United Methodist Church, in particular, since he moved to Kentucky. Art is survived by three children—Diana, Jenny and Ryan (Amy); three grandchildren—Kimberly Fleser Smidl (Greg), Jonathon Case and Ben Fleser; two great-grandchildren—Jaxxon and Gracen Case; and, one sibling—Ivan Fleser. He is preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Patricia, and his siblings Faith Kleis, Avis Shoemaker (Art’s twin), and Don, Harry, Roger and Calvin Fleser.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 10:50 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, at Wilmore United Methodist Church followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor D Merricks presiding. In lieu of flowers, please send gifts to Asbury University (1 Macklem Drive, Wilmore, KY 40390) or Wesley Village (1125 Lexington Road, Wilmore, KY 40390). Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home is assisting the Fleser Family.
