Arthur Lee Devone, Jr., 64, of Spanaway, Wash. and Fayetteville, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019. Arthur was born in Cumberland County.

He graduated from Terry Sanford High School in 1972. He worked for One Hour Koretizing for a short time where he met his beloved wife, Garlene. They were married and during the 42 years together, they had two sons.

Arthur joined the Army in 1977 and retired after serving 23 years. After retirement, Arthur worked for the Bethel School District in Washington state, and then became a letter carrier for the US Postal Service. He retired from the Postal Service in 2016 after 16 years of service.

Arthur enjoyed fishing, playing Dominos and Pokeno. He loved to laugh and entertain and to just have a good time. He was loved by all who knew him and everyone has story to tell about him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Lee Devone, Sr. and Mattie Lee Devone; a son, Arthur Lee Devone, III; a brother, Robert McLean; and a sister, Brenda Powel. Left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife, Garlene Ann Devone; son, Christopher Devone; three sisters, Dorothy McLean, Berthine Campbell and Wilhelmenia Devone Harvey; brothers, Marc Devone (Helen) and Lee Raymond; and a granddaughter, Maliyah Perez Devone. Arthur was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm. Burial will be held at a later date in Kent, Wash.
