Obituary for Arthur Reicks Arthur Reicks, age 90, of Carroll, died Friday, May 18, 2018 at Swan Place Assisted Living in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr.

Allan Reicks. Con-Celebrant will be Fr. Brian Feller.

Mass Servers will be Mason Reicks, Connor Reicks, and Max Meyers. Music will be by Diane Mahoney, Gail Johll, and the Holy Spirit Choir. Lector will be Frank Hermson.

Gift Bearers will be Michael Martin, Kelsie Reicks, and Rachael Dirkx. Eucharistic Ministers will be Pat Sanders, and Twilla Hoffman. Casket Bearers will be Peter Martin, Matt Reicks, Tyler Reicks, Ashlyn Reicks, Kenan Schrad, Noah Schrad, Rachael Dirkx, and Mike Albertson.

Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll, with military honors conducted by the Carroll American Legion. The Carroll 4th Degree Knights of Columbus will form an honor guard for the funeral mass.

Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, where there will be a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Rosary prayed at 5 p.m., and a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m. at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. Memorials may be left at the funeral home, or at the church to be directed to Holy Spirit Parish, or the Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation. sharpfuneral.com. Arthur Frank Reicks was born on October 31, 1927, at Carroll, Iowa, the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Athmer) Reicks. He grew up in Carroll, and attended SS Peter and Paul Grade School, and later Carroll High School.

On April 5, 1946 Art was inducted into the United States Army and proudly served in the Army of Occupation, World War II, until September 26, 1947. Art also served in the Korean Conflict from December 1, 1950 to June 27, 1951, and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service. On June 9, 1953, Art was united in marriage to Irma Sondgeroth at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Roselle with the Rev.

Art enjoyed singing, being an active member of the Spirit Singers, RSVP Singers, Carroll Elks Men’s Chorus, and Holy Spirit Choir. He also enjoyed gardening, reading, tinkering with anything that needed fixing, and most of all Art enjoyed spending time with all of his family. Art also volunteered his time at New Hope Village in Carroll, and at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, even volunteering to distribute Holy Communion to the home-bound.

Art was a member of the Carroll American Legion, 4th Degree Member of the Carroll Knights of Columbus, and Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. Art is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Irma Reicks of Carroll; their children: Tim (Mary) Reicks of Carroll, Mary Sue (friend, Brian Schumacher) of Lohrville, Rob (Jan) Reicks of West Des Moines, and Jennie Reicks of Carroll; eight grandchildren: Matt Reicks, Rachael (Michael) Dirks, Peter (Emily) Martin, Michael Martin, Tyler Reicks, Ashlyn Reicks, Kenan Schrad, and Noah Schrad; two great-grandchildren: Kelsie Reicks, and Finn Martin; his sister: Mary Ann (Melvin) Renze of Manning, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. Art was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Elizabeth Reicks; a son-in-law, Dennis Martin; a grandson, Christopher Martin; granddaughter: Isabel Luchtel; his parents-in-law: William (Mary) Sondgeroth, and his brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law: Alfred (Rose) Sondgeroth, Leota (John) Kramer, Bill (Celine) Sondgeroth, Helen (Jerry) Steenson, Lucille (Orville) Schroeder, Dolores (Jerry) Schulte, Rev.
