Arthur William Cook, Sr. (Billy) was born on April 24, 1944 in Birmingham, AL to Edward Daley Cook, Sr. and Virginia Brown Petty. Billy confessed Christ at an early age and later joined St. Paul United Methodist Church under the leadership of Reverend J. C. Wilson. He graduated from Parker High School in 1962.

Billy was preceded in death by his father, Edward Daley Cook, Sr., his mother, Virginia Brown Petty, three brothers, Edward Daley Cook, Jr., George Henry Cook, and Henry Spain, and one sister Deborah Lilla Lewis. Those left to cherish his memory include: wife, Norma Jean Hines-Cook, two sons, Arthur William Cook, Jr. (Yanette), William Arthur Cook, and five daughters, Sonia Renee’ Floyd (Clarence), LaKeeta Yvonne Wright (Joseph), LaTonya Denise Cook (Emmit), Loretta Samethia Ford (Dexter), and La’Tara Davida Pollard (Jamaul); two sisters, Beverly Ann Williams (Leroy), Sharon Elizabeth Hunter (Willie), and one brother, Robert Fletcher Spain (Kimbley); 18 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
