Arthur’s Obituary Arthur Zigmont Bates, 71, of Latrobe, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at his home. Born September 7, 1947 in Latrobe, he was a son of the late Louis E. Bates and Anna C. (Braden) Bates. Arthur was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Latrobe.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Westmoreland Plastics with 39 years of service. Arthur was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam era and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 515.

He enjoyed watching sports on television, hunting, fishing, and metal detecting. Arthur is survived by his wife of 35 years, Margaret M. (Ruzbacky) Bates, of Latrobe; one son, Michael L. Bates, of Latrobe; four brothers, Robert L. Bates and his wife Connie, of Latrobe, Eugene S. Bates and his wife Donna, of Latrobe, Charles H. Bates and his wife Marian, of Latrobe, and David J. Bates and his wife Connie, of Latrobe; and he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm Thursday at the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME, INC.

, 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Les Hutchins officiating.

Interment will follow at Unity Cemetery where graveside military services will be accorded by the Greensburg V.F.W. Post No. 33.
