Arvid Jerome Albertsen was born April 23, 1931 in Brandon, MN, the son of Adolph and Julia (Bergsvet) Albertsen. Arvid grew up helping his parents on the family farm. He attended school in Brandon where he graduated from high school.

Following high school, Arvid continued living and working on the family farm. He began serving in the United States Army in August of 1952. Arvid served as a light vehicle driver at Fort Leonard Wood.

Upon his discharge in 1954 he returned to Brandon, MN where he began driving semi-trucks. On August 9, 1957 Arvid was united in marriage to Florence Holt. The couple made their home in Alexandria, MN where they have resided ever since.

In 1968 Arvid began working for 3M, first on the production line in the plant and later in the warehouse as a Drexel (forklift) operator. After twenty-five years with 3M he retired in 1993. Following his retirement Arvid and Florence wintered in Mesa, AZ for the next twelve years.

For over fifty years Arvid did gunsmithing in his spare time. It was something he was passionate about and took pride in being able to repair guns others couldn’t. He enjoyed hunting pheasants, waterfowl, squirrel and especially deer.

Being in the woods with his grandchildren & seeing them get their first deer was something that gave him great pleasure. Arvid also enjoyed getting in the boat and going fishing. Arvid liked gardening and kept a large vegetable garden.

He also spent time doing lapidary work and made jewelry for family & friends. Arvid had many dogs over the years and loved them all. He could approach and make friends with just about any dog.

Arvid was a hard working man and could fix just about anything. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was the best husband, father and grandfather that anyone could have.

On Saturday, May 12, 2018 Arvid died at the age of eighty-seven years. He was preceded in death by his brother, Arnold Albertsen; and sisters, Lenora and June Albertsen; son, Edward Holt; and great grandson, Andrew Byington. Arvid is survived by his wife of over sixty years, Florence Albertsen; daughter, Deborah Hudson and husband, Scot; sons, Alan Holt, Keith Albertsen and wife, Amanda, and Tony Holt and wife, Linda; grandchildren, David Seabolt and wife, Wanda, Allison Goodher, Jennifer Holt, Sarah Gonzalez Blanco and husband, Jose, Andrew Albertsen and wife, Jessica and Katy Larson; great grandchildren, Kirsten, Samantha, Eddie, David Jr, Alycia and Christina; and nine great great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 4 PM, Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Interment will be at the Chippewa Cemetery at Brandon, MN. Visitation will be from 3 to 4 PM Saturday at the Anderson Funeral Home.
