Athena Loukas, born on December 1, 1947, succumbed to the ravages of Multiple Sclerosis on Sunday, February 3, 2019 after a very long and hard fought battle of 44 years.

Throughout the years, Athena was innovative in her quest to defeat the progression of her disease and fought with fierce determination to maintain an independent life. Despite the challenges and struggles, her heart was filled with love and charity. She exemplified undying commitment to family and friends always giving all she could to help anyone in need.

We extend our deepest gratitude to those friends that maintained communication with her and to the doctors, nurses, aides and Hospice staff who provided her with such devoted and special comfort and care in her final days. Athena attended college at St. Basil’s Academy and Notre Dame College in Manchester, New Hampshire where she earned her teaching degree. Athena is survived by her sister, Elaine Euripidou (Michael); nieces and nephews, Christopher, Evan, and Renee Euripidou, Fotoulla Damaskos (Christos); great nephew, Michael Damaskos, whom she adored beyond words and her former husband, Andonis Tzelepis.

She was predeceased by parents, Irene and Christos Loukas and sister, Georgia. After a lifetime of daily struggles, our prayers and our hopes are that Heaven will open its arms to you and give you the rest and the joy that you so deserve; where you can dance, play, sing and rejoice and go into the loving and comforting arms of our parents and all the Heavenly Hosts.
