Obituary for Aurelia F. Brewer Aurelia F. Brewer, 76, of Monroe, formerly of Cleveland, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at the IHM Senior Living Community. Born November 16, 1941 in Mount Vernon, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Benonia S. and Stella A. (Ledbetter) Hargrave. Aurelia married Rev.
J. Ralph Brewer on June 28, 1958 in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Sadly, he preceded her in death on September 12, 2011. She and her husband served the Church of God as pastors in Texas, Oregon and North Carolina; and in administrative positions in Arkansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Tennessee and North Dakota.
In 2006, Aurelia retired with 40 years of service to the Church of God, where she held the position of administrative assistant and Executive Secretary to various departments within the denomination on the state and international level. In addition, she was an organist, pianist and vocalist and used these gifts through the years of ministry with her husband. To cherish her memory, Aurelia leaves three children: Rhonda E. (Chuck) Moats of Cleveland, Tennessee, Carmela F. (Joseph) Byrd of Monroe, Michigan and Stacy D. (Lisa) Brewer of Santa Clarita, California; Seven grandchildren: Shaun (Jenifer), Ándrea (Jimmy), Abigail (Calum), Kayla, Emma and Riley; Nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter; Kristina (Tina) (Travis) Fletcher; eight brothers and sisters. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2018, and 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Stewart Road Church of God, 1199 Stewart Road, Monroe, MI, 48162. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. following visitation on Saturday, November 24, also at the church.
Because Aurelia and her husband have ministered across the country and many friends and family are unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed on the Stewart Road Church of God Facebook page. Rev. Dr. Joseph Byrd will officiate.
A private interment was conducted at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Cleveland, Tennessee. Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the family to help with end of life care and funeral expenses.
