Obituary for Austin Salmon Dateline: Glenville, NY Austin R. Salmon died peacefully on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on February 22, 1934 in Rochester, NY, the son of the late H. Stanley and Marion (Coy) Salmon. Austin graduated from Penfield High School in 1952 and was a graduate of SUNY Oswego in 1956.

He served in the US Army and was honorably discharged on July 31, 1962. Austin had a rewarding career at Mohonasen High School in Rotterdam as an industrial arts teacher. A jack-of-all trades, he came of age in the vacuum tube era but learned to embrace email and surfing the web.

He enjoyed repairing, restoring and trading antique radios and military firearms. Austin was a member of the Guilderland Lions Club for many years and and rarely missed “Choir Practice” with his good friends on Friday nights. Austin and Terry spent many happy summers, before and after retiring, at their summer cottage in Fisher’s Landing, NY.

Austin was the beloved husband of the late Teresa K. (Kazmercik) Salmon. He is survived by three loving children, Sharon L. Salmon-Lewandowski (Paul) of Charlton, Mark E. Salmon (Kristen) of Folsom, CA, Kenneth S. Salmon (Therese) of Whitefish Bay WI; grandchildren Alexandra K. Grout, Alayna J. Pack, P. Austin Lewandowski, P. Reed Lewandowski, Holley T. Salmon and Matthew T. Salmon; great-grandchildren Norah H. Grout and Rosalie E. Grout. Along with his wife, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Rachael H. Salmon.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Rd, Ballston Lake, NY. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Penfield, NY at 12:00 pm Saturday, June 16, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Save The River Upper St. Lawrence Riverkeeper, 409 River Dr. Clayton, NY, 13624.
