AIDMAN, B. Terry , age 70 of Tampa died Wednesday, June 20, 2018 suddenly while on a family vacation in Colorado. Mr. Aidman came to Florida from his native Cleveland, Ohio in 1961. He was a leader in the Tampa Bay business community and community at large.
B. Terry Aidman was a business consultant, a Certified Merger and Acquisitions Advisor as well as a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Aidman served as the Managing Partner of a nationally ranked Accounting Firm. Furthermore, he developed a prominent position in Tampa Bay as the Managing Partner of Aidman, Piser & Company.
He also previously served as both the Director of Tax Services and as Managing Partner for the Tampa Bay offices of an international accounting firm. He attended Southern Methodist University and graduated from the University of South Florida (USF) where he was a member of Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity. He was past Chair of the USF School of Accountancy Advisory Board, and was a member of the USF President’s Council and an honorary member of Beta Alpha Psi.
He has also served on the advisory boards of the Accounting Conferences of both USF and the University of Florida. Most recently, Mr. Aidman was appointed an “Executive in Residence” for the University of South Florida School of Business. Mr. Aidman previously served as a member of Vistage International (formerly The Executive Committee), an international organization dedicated to increasing the effectiveness of CEOs, and as President of DFK/USA, an international organization consisting of independent accounting firms.
Mr. Aidman served on numerous boards, both for profit (commercial and banking) and non-profit organizations. He has taught, lectured and written articles on a variety of accounting topics. In addition to serving as an editorial advisor for the Journal of Accountancy, his credits include a weekly tax column, a monthly “Tax Tip” for regional television, and a monthly video presentation for a national education program.
Active in the greater community, he received the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) Public Service Award for his commitment to community service. He has served on the boards of numerous civic, professional, social and religious organizations, including president of Congregation Schaarai Zedek and Tampa Jewish Social Service. Furthermore, he served on the Board of Governors for the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, on the Advisory Board of Fifth Third Bank, as an Advisor to Celestar Corporation and as Chairman of the Tampa Downtown Partnership.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Leslie, four legged friend Soufflé (who thought she was married to him), son and daughter-in-law, Todd & Danielle Aidman, daughter and son-in-law, Ashley & Shawn Brown, cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, Hunter and Preston, sister Debbie Landa, sisters and brothers-in-law, Sydney & Mike Camp, Tenley & Wyatt Beazley along with numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends throughout his business circles and the community. Burial will be private. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 29, 2018, 11:00 AM at Congregation Schaarai Zedek, 3303 West Swann Avenue, Tampa.
Family will receive friends at a reception following services in the social hall.
