GERDON, Edna Mae, 88, of Wesley Chapel, Florida, passed away in peace at her home on Sunday, June 17, 2018. Edna Mae was born on August 2, 1929 in North Royalton, Ohio to Carl and Lela Carter Rundle. She graduated from North Royalton High School and married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Gerdon.

Together they raised five sons and built a life filled with love, good friends, faith and family. They moved from Ohio to Tampa, Florida in 1962 and bought a house on Tampa Bay. Wayne worked… Read More » for Union Oil Company for 24 years, and Edna Mae stayed home to raise her sons until they were all in school.

She worked for Montgomery Ward for 17 years in customer service. In 1986, Wayne and Edna Mae decided to seek a quieter life in Wesley Chapel and built a house on Quail Hollow Golf Course, where they lived together for 28 years. Before Wayne passed away in 2013, they had been happily married for 66 years.

Always a people person, Edna Mae surrounded herself with friends and family, and loved nothing as much as having crowds around to visit and cook for. Edna Mae was very involved in her church in Wesley Chapel and kept busy in retirement by taking craft classes and volunteering at church. She was uniquely kind and thoughtful, and taught her children and grandchildren to always “be sweet”.

Edna Mae reunites with her husband, Wayne and her sons, Roy and Randy in death. She is survived by her sisters, Marge Kowach, Ruth Acker and Hazel Tolowitzki; three sons, Ross, Robert and Richard; five grandchildren, Tracet Gerdon Cohen, Brynn Gerdon, Reece Gerdon, Rebecca Gerdon and Katie Gerdon; and three great grandchildren, Caden Allen, and Molly and Paige Cohen.
