Obituary of Babette Nieckarz Babette “Betty” Nieckarz, 98, of Vischer Ferry Road, died on Tuesday May 8, 2018 at the Glendale Nursing Home after a brief illness. She was born on Dec. 26, 1919 in Yonkers, NY and was the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Rudolph Schwarz.

Babette was the beloved wife of the late Edward Nieckarz, who died on March 31, 1981. She had been cafeteria worker for the Shenendehowa Central School system for a number of years and belonged to the Shenendehowa Senior Citizens, where she taught line dancing. She was an avid dancer since her youth and belonged to the Hill Country Cloggers and the Kevin Richards line dancers.

She was a longtime member of the Shenendehowa United Methodist Church in Clifton Park. She is the devoted mother of Edward John Nieckarz and William Curtis (Nancy) Nieckarz; grandmother of Ryan (Emily) and Rachel Nieckarz; great grandmother of Jameson Nieckarz; mother-in-law of the late Patricia Nieckarz; dancing partner of Linda (Robert) Rice and Nancy Dorrough; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Babette was pre-deceased by her 6 sisters.

Special thanks to her caregiver, Sandy Schrome, for the wonderful care given. Funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.

Calling hours will be from 8-10 am Saturday in the funeral home, prior to the service. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
