Mrs. Barbara Ann Helms Gates, 76, of Ozark, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018, in Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham. Funeral services will be graveside 1:00 P. M. Wednesday, June 13, 2018, in Camden City Cemetery in Camden, Alabama. Interment will follow, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Tuesday evening from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Barbara was born August 22, 1941 to the late John and Lois Speigner Helms in New Brockton, Alabama. She graduated from New Brockton High School and Montevallo College (University of Montevallo) and taught school in Crestview, Florida for thirty years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Pat Kelly and brother-in-law, Joe Weidenbach.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, John P. Gates; two sisters, Peggy Weidenbach and Nancy Tisdale (Ron); brother-in-law, Lavon Kelly; three nephews, Charles Kelly (Kristy), John Kelly (Julie), Joey Tisdale (Paige); four nieces, Susan Weidenbach Hamlet, Betsy Weidenbach, Mitzy Kelly Park, Beth Tisdale Kirchner (Jacob); three great nephews, Gregory Park, Cullis Kelly, Caleb Kirchner; eight great nieces, Mary Katherine Hamlet, Madeline Hamlet, Taylor Park, Caroline Kelly, Kathleen Kelly, Charli Grace Kelly, Libby Kelly, and Isabella Kirchner. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the charity of your choice.
