Mrs. Marie Cotten Johnston, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2018 at the age of 93. Funeral services will be 2:30 P.M. Friday, June 1, 2018, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Paul Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.

The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home in Ozark from 1:30 P.M. until service time. Mrs. Johnston was born July 15, 1924 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Tabitha Melinda Cotten and Charles Spencer Cotten. She was an active member of Ozark Baptist Church, a licensed beautician and worked with the Dale County Board of Registrars.

Mrs. Johnston loved to play bingo, cook, and play canasta with friends. Mrs. Johnston was an avid sports fan of Auburn and the Atlanta Braves. She was a family-oriented person who loved her family dearly, and was a devoted caregiver to others.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Porter Johnston; her sons, Harvey Johnston and George Johnston, and all of her beloved brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Sissy Long (Larry), her daughters-in-law, Connie Johnston and Patty Johnston; her grandchildren, Tracy Haney (Denis), Lori Burkett (Steven), Patrick Long (Tori), Kris Long (Natasha), Jana Robinette (Jason) and Kelly Weil (Gary); fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Ozark Baptist Church, 282 South Union Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
