Obituary for Mrs. Barbara Ann Stivender Mrs. Barbara Ann Stivender, age 78 of St. George, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018. Mrs. Stivender was born in Thomasville, Georgia to the late Austin and Ann Giles. She grew up in Jacksonville and was a member of the first graduating class at Ribault High School in 1958.

Eventually settling in St. George with her family, she enjoyed traveling, spending time near the water, and going fishing with her husband until the time of his death. Mrs. Stivender was well known in Macclenny, as she was the owner of Elegance “N” Bloom Florist for thirty years. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed shopping and collecting tea cups.

Friendly and giving, Mrs. Stivender will be remembered as a compassionate, caring woman who was always willing to donate to a cause or help anyone in need. She is survived by her brother: Austin “Nick” (Sue) Giles of St. George; step-son: Fred B. (Lori) Stivender Jr. of Macclenny; step-daughters: Martha (Greg) Chapman, Melissa (Mike) Burnsed, and Helen Hall, all of St. George; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous other family members. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Fred Stivender Sr. A mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00am, Monday, April 16, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Macclenny with Father Bielasiewicz officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Glen St. Mary. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Forbes Funeral Home, Macclenny.
