Obituary for Ms. Virginia M. Fontan-Santiago Ms. Virginia M. Fontan-Santiago, age 80 of Macclenny, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018. A lifelong Baker County resident, she was born in Baxter to the late Thomas J. and Gracie Anderson Mixon. Ms. Virginia was of the Church of God faith and was a fun loving, caring woman who loved life and laughter.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved children and animals and was loved in return by everyone that knew her. She enjoyed gardening and was known to have a green thumb. Ms. Virginia also enjoyed watching TV and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her sons: Thomas Jewell of Vernal, Utah and William (Tosha) Rittenhouse of Brookeville, PA; daughters: Gracie Virginia “Jean” (Allen) Singletary of St. George, GA, Melissa Rittenhouse of Jacksonville, and Susan (Marlon) Thompson of Hilliard; brother: Joseph E. (Shirley) Mixon of Maryland; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other family also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons: Virgil Wilton Jewell and Roger Lee Jewell; daughters: Cynthia Lynn Jewell and Diane Taylor; brother: Thomas J. Mixon; and sisters: Betty J. Wiedecker and Donnie Lee Hinson.
Funeral services will be held 12:00pm, Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at St. George Church of God in St. George, GA with Pastor Grady Allbritton officiating. Burial will follow at Moniac Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
