Obituary for Ms. Billie Jean Hummel Hummel – Billie Jean Hummel, age 75, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away June 5, 2018 at St. Vincent’s Southside in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born November 15, 1942 in Raleigh, North Carolina to the late Helen May Lowry Hare. Billie was raised in North Carolina where she met and married the love of her life, Ronald Lane Baker.
They relocated to Jacksonville, Florida to raise their 4 children. After Ronald passed away, Billie married John Edward Hummel and they had a daughter, Lisa. Billie was an amazing wife and mother who loved her family.
She enjoyed her longtime career as a Security Guard, working various locations, until she was forced into retirement due to health issues. Billie also enjoyed crocheting and needle point. She made teddy bear and barbie doll clothing, and numerous hats throughout the years.
Billie had a heart of gold and was always taking care of family and friends. She loved jewelry and liked watching the jewelry television channels along with SYFY shows. She was as a big Twilight movie fan and really liked Edward.
More than anything, Billie loved her family and her dogs, who she treated like her babies. Billie is predeceased by her parents; her husbands, Ronald Lane Baker, Sr. and John Edward Hummel; her children, Pete Baker, David “Archie” Baker, and Patricia Baker; and her brother-in-law, Cecil Rhodes. Billie is survived by her daughters, Joyce Jackson of Ambrose, GA, and Lisa (Justin) Janousek of Seattle, WA; sisters, Patricia (Wayne) Kelley of Atlanta, GA, Dee Rhodes of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Mitch Hare of Orange Park, FL and David Hare of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Heather Baker, Lori Jackson, Tiffany Howell, and Jessica Howell; great grandchildren, Michelle King, Brittany King, Herman King and Mariah Campbell; and five great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Billie’s Life will be held Friday, June 8, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Beaches Memorial Park Chapel. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Beaches Memorial Park Chapel. The arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
