Obituary for Mr. Joseph E. “Joe” Melton Mr. Joseph E. “Joe” Melton, age 62 of Jacksonville and formerly of Glen St. Mary, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018. A native of Virginia, Mr. Melton had been in this area since 1979. He was a retired road construction foreman, and had been employed by Affordable Asphalt, Builder’s First Source, and DT Services, Inc., all in Jacksonville.

He was a devoted family man, loved spending time with his grandchildren, and was a role model and father figure for many. Mr. Melton enjoyed going fishing and sports of all kinds. He especially enjoyed playing basketball and watching football, particularly the Florida Gators.

Mr. Melton will be remembered as a happy, caring man who was willing to help anyone in need. He is survived by his sons: Christopher E. Melton and Joseph E. Melton II, both of Jacksonville; daughter: Ashley (Bryan) Jenkins of Jacksonville; grandchildren: Faith Jenkins, Hope Jenkins, Chloe Melton, Bryan Jenkins II, and Christopher Melton II; brother: Walter E. Melton II; sisters: Karen Melton and Sidney Melton, both of North Carolina; and numerous other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Tony Ann Melton; son: Charlie W. Melton; and brother: Michael Melton.
