Obituary for Mr James Anthony Deyorio Sr Deyorio – James Anthony Deyorio, Sr., age 92, of Macclenny, Florida passed away on July 16, 2018. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on January 6, 1926 to the late Anthony Deyorio and Mary Classens Deyorio. James was raised in Jacksonville and joined the United States Navy following high school.
He proudly served 3 years on the Aircraft Carrier, The USS Hornet, in the Pacific Ocean during World War II. After his honorable discharge from the military, James worked as a Painter with the Seaboard Railroad for 39 years. James attended Our Ladies of the Angels Catholic Church where he met the love of his life, Lorraine Agnes Shea.
They were married 59 years. After retirement, James attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he volunteered as part of The Legion of Mary Association. In 2004, James relocated to Macclenny and became a member at St. Mary’s Mother of Mercy Catholic Church.
James was a devout catholic and avid reader who loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorraine; and his sons, Jim and John Deyorio. James is survived by his children, Joe (Barbara) Deyorio of Jacksonville, FL and Jean Veal of Macclenny, FL; his grandchildren, Mandee, Regina, Stacia (Scott), Michael (Kelley), Gina (Paul), Allison, and Ashley (Steven); and his 12 great grandchildren.
Mass Service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 2:00 pm at St. Mary’s Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Macclenny, FL with Father Jose Maniyangat as celebrant. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery where military honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home and Rosary will begin at 7:00 pm.
