Barbara Anne Basal, 77, of Marlborough, passed away peacefully New Year’s Day (Jan. 1, 2019) at Marlborough Health & Rehab. Born June 27, 1941 in Cromwell, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Barbara (Hajek) Hoyt.

She took great pride in her home and yard and was the devoted mother of four children, whom she leaves behind, Sherry and Jason Genga of Marlborough, Laurie Soucier of East Haddam, Brenda Basal of Columbia and James Basal of Andover; as well as a doting grandmother to six. In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed crocheting, gardening and walking outdoors. Care of private arrangements has been entrusted to the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester.
