Obituary for Barbara “Barb” Jean Hudson Barbara “Barb” Ann Hudson-McSauby, 56, of Traverse City passed away Monday June 18, 2018 at Munson Medical Center with her loving friends and family at her side. Barb was born in Grand Rapids to the late Oliver and Barbara (McSawby) McSauby. Both her parents were members of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, (GTB).

Barb was a proud person and took great pride in her Native American Heritage. She proudly earned her associates in liberal arts and business, with a major in computers. Barb worked many jobs in computer science and was amazingly good at all things on the computer.

In her younger years she worked for a company with the United States Navy in the accounting and computing departments and then moved home to Michigan in 1998 to work at GTB and build her home. Barb retired from GTB early in 2018 and had last worked in the shipping and receiving department. In her spare time, she enjoyed long walks, visiting local restaurants in Traverse City, playing computer games, being silly, bowling, taking trips with friends, and anything to do with the outdoors and wolves.

Her dogs Tate and Cole brought great joy to her as she cared for them over their lifetime. Fondly, Barb will be remembered by her family and friends sitting in her favorite chair with an ice-cold Coke Cola in her hand relaxing, being the brat of the family and very protective of us all, and always enjoying the moment. Surviving Barb are her siblings; Jeanette Schwandt, John (Beverly) McSauby, James McSauby, Thomas (Mary) McSauby, Richard McSauby, Mary Jo McSauby; best friend/sisters by another mother, Doris Winslow and Kathy Andrews and many other loving family members and friends.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, brother Michael, and beloved dogs Tate and Cole. Per Barb’s wishes a private family service will take place on Saturday, June 30. Kindly share thoughts and memories with Barbie’s family at www.
