OBITUARY Barbara “Bobbi” Jones Powell July 11, 1937 – January 22, 2019 Barbara “Bobbi” Jones Powell, 81, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Northminster Presbyterian Church. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm.

in the church fellowship hall. Dr. Rev. Ralph Hawkins will officiate.

Burial will be at a later date in Smyrna Church Cemetery in Goochland County, Virginia. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church, 565 Wimbish Road, Macon 31210. Mrs. Powell was born in Richmond, Virginia, the daughter of the late Florence Mabel Hamner Jones and Irving C. Jones.

She retired from the Bibb County Board of Education after 30 years of teaching. She was an active member of Northminster Presbyterian Church for 40 years before moving to Decatur in 2016 and transferring her membership to Decatur Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Powell was also a member of the Macon Service League, the Federated Garden Club of Macon, and was very active in Macon tennis circles.

Mrs. Powell is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Powell of Decatur; daughters, Shannon W. Powell (Paul Duda) and Keri N. Powell (Daniel Marks) all of Decatur; grandchildren, Abigail, Joel, Skyler, Natalie, and Zachary; brother, J. Sterling Jones of Goochland, VA; and several nieces & nephews.
