Barbara Lynn Garcia was born on October 16, 1945, in Fairfield, Ohio, to Paul and Wanda (Brown) McKinney. Because her father was in the military, she moved often with her family as a child, living in Memphis, Tennessee, and Chappell, where she attended rural elementary school. They then moved to Denver where she attended Jefferson High School.

She left high school to marry Fred Jackson in 1961. To this marriage one daughter, Barbara J., was born. They made their home in Pittsburg.

After the divorce, Bobbie and her daughter moved back to Memphis and then to Flagstaff, Arizona, and Gallup, New Mexico. She married Johnny Garcia in 1975 in Gallup, New Mexico. To this marriage 2 children were born, Linda and Andy.

The couple lived in Durango and Gallup. They divorced in 1979 and Bobbie returned home to Chappell because “it was a good place to raise kids,” as she always said. While in Chappell she volunteered at Chappell Elementary School and taught preschoolers Sunday School at the Methodist Church.

She worked at Towne Mart, Toot’s, the Reservoir, Miller Memorial Nursing Home, and Chappell Super Foods before her retirement. Bobbie loved the community of Chappell and the people who live here. She was an avid fan of NASCAR, especially the Dale Earnhardt family, and a diehard fan of Husker football.

She loved cooking and baking (especially chocolate) and collected recipes and cookbooks. Bobbie is survived by her daughters, Barbara Halliwell of Manhattan, Kansas, and Linda and husband, Steve Hansen of Lincoln; 2 grandsons, Richard and Michael Halliwell of Manhattan; brothers Paul McKinney, Jr., of Arizona, and Randy Dormann of Oshkosh; and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Harold Wilkinson; son, Andy; and granddaughter, Elitta Garcia.
