Barbara Christina (Hough) Corless, 92, of LaSalle, formerly of Oak Park, passed away Thursday, October 04, 2018 at Heritage Healthcare Center in Peru. Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the Prey-Mueller Funeral Home in Oglesby.

Mrs. Corless was born December 25, 1925 in Wigan, Lancashire, England to Richard Francis and Margaret (Fairhurst) Hough. She attended the Notre Dame Convent School for… Read More » Girls in Wigan and served as a Private in the ATS of the British Army during World War II. She married Charles Allen Corless on December 22, 1956 at the Oglesby Union Church Rectory.

Mrs. Corless was a joy to others, always singing and reciting poetry, including the poems and sonnets of Shakespeare. She was known to the Oak Park neighborhood children as their own Mary Poppins. She was full of life.

Her main theme in life was love, especially for her husband, Charles. Survivors include her husband, Charles; two daughters, Sarah (Theodore) Stasik and Emily (Bruce) Vescogni both of Peru and five grandchildren, Benjamin and Spencer Stasik and Brian (Shelly), Brent (Jennifer) and Bradd (Christie) Vescogni. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Margaret Gee and Dorothy Prentice and two brothers, Ralph, who was killed in Italy while serving in World War II and John Hough.
