Barbara Ann Dougherty, 89, of Morristown, formerly of Brick and West Orange, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018. Born on August 16, 1929, in Troy, New York, she was the daughter of Willard Arnold Kavanaugh and Kathryn (Kay) Fallon Kavanaugh. Her brothers Jack and Paul (Billy) Kavanaugh and her sister Patricia Collins have preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children and their families: Dennis and Rong of Belvidere, NJ; Matthew and Nancy of Silver Spring, MD; Cornelius Bernard III and Diane of Nazareth, PA; Patricia and Charles Kinney of North Plainfield, NJ; Timothy and Mary of Morristown, NJ; Danny and Lisa of Bradley Beach, NJ; John of Leesport, PA; Barbara of Toms River, NJ; and Margaret and Dean Calderwood.

Barbara is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Barbara was a devout Roman Catholic, member of the Holy Rosary Society and an alto with Our Lady of the Valley’s Church choir in Orange, NJ. Barbara sang Irish and Andrews Sisters songs at every family gathering and her cooking was legendary.

The world was her dance floor from clubs to kitchens and throughout her retirement at the Greenbriar community in Brick, NJ. She treasured her large family and her wonderful dog Buck along with her cats. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Church of the Assumption, Morristown on Friday at 10 AM.

Visitation will be held at Doyle Funeral Home, 106 Maple Avenue, Morristown on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations made be made in Barbara’s memory to Community Soup Kitchen and Outreach Center, 36 South Street, Morristown, NJ 07960.
