Obituary for Barbara E. Laitinen HUBBARDSTON- Barbara E. (Ikonen) Laitinen, 90, of Hubbardston, passed Friday, June 8, at the Lifecare Center of Leominster. She was born August 14, 1927, daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Haninen) Ikonen. Barbara worked as a site coordinator In Hubbardston through the Montachusett Opportunity Council (MOC), for the Meals on Wheels program.

She was a member of the Hubbardston Golden Age Club, a long time member of the Ladies of Kaleva, and enjoyed reading, crocheting, and knitting. Her husband of 57 years, Edwin A. Laitinen, passed in 2002. She leaves one son, Peter Laitinen and his wife, Melanie of Templeton; one daughter, Maija Sevigny and her husband, Gordon of Hubbardston; four grandchildren, Matthew Laitinen, Joshua Sevigny, Hannah Cabrera, and Rebecca Sevigny; and also one great granddaughter, Luna Rose Cabrera.

The funeral will be held Friday, June 15, at 11:30 A.M. at Lamoureux-Smith & Poliks Funeral Home, a Mack Family Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Hubbardston. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations may be made to the Life Care Center of Leominster 370 West St. Leominster, MA 01453.
