OBITUARY Barbara Jo (Weaver) Burns Ellis March 6, 1934 – July 15, 2018 Barbara Jo Weaver Burns Ellis was born on March 6, 1934, in Wardell, MO to Monford and Claudine Weaver, and she went to be with her Lord on July 15, 2018. Barbara studied accounting and business at Arkansas State University. She worked most of her life as a bookkeeper for various businesses in the Shreveport/Bossier area.

She was also manager of Sansone’s Restaurant in Shreveport. Later in life, she earned her LPN Certificate from VoTech. In her younger years, Barbara enjoyed playing bridge with friends.

Her other hobbies included playing the piano and organ, gardening and cooking. Barbara loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren of whom she was very proud. She loved taking care of her granddaughters, Angie and Jennifer, after school each day while also raising her youngest daughter, Missy.

Her other favorite activities with her grandchildren included taking her grandsons, Zach, Jacob, and Luke to SciPort. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Monford and Claudine Weaver; her brother, Jerry Elmo Weaver; her husband, James Elton Burns; her daughter, Kathleen Marie Burns; and her grandson, Michael Scibetta. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Claudia Paulette Gibbs Lohrey (David Lohrey), Kimber Lee Gibbs Scibetta (Ronald Scibetta), Melissa Kay Burns Fussell (Wayne Fussell); her grandchildren, Angela Barnard Sweeney (Craig Sweeney), Jennifer Sanders Rougon (Chase Rougon), Zachary Blake Fussell (Ansley Fussell), Jacob Austin Fussell, Luke Ryan Fussell, Jennifer Scibetta Sevick (Kurt Sevick), and Ronni Scibetta Shaw (Robert Shaw).

Barbara will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation on Sunday, July 29, 2018, from 2-3 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
