Torrington- Barry F. Neri, 61, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Litchfield Woods Healthcare Center, Torrington. Barry was born in Torrington on October 9, 1957, son of the late Americo and Elizabeth “Betty” (Tomala) Neri, and had been a lifelong city resident. He was a graduate of the former Sacred Heart Grammar School, Torrington High School, and Hartford State Technical College.

Barry had been employed as a technician with the Torrington Area Health District. He was a lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church. In his early years, Barry enjoyed playing baseball and had played on a Babe Ruth team that went on to participate in the New England Championship.

He will be remembered for living his life gracefully, even after his diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis 40 years ago. Survivors include a brother, Mark Neri and his wife Karen of Torrington; a sister-in-law, Helen Neri of Hopkinton, MA; and two nieces, Kristen Neri and Jessica Neri. Barry was predeceased by a brother, Philip Neri.

Barry’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to the entire staff at Litchfield Woods Healthcare Center, for the wonderful care shown to Barry over the years. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 9:30a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to Sacred Heart Church, 116 Grove St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30a.m. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.
