Obituary for Barry Glushyn Barry Glushyn was born on May 18, 1945 to John and Phyllis Glushyn, in Amery, Wisconsin. He was the second of 3 children. Three years later, his family moved to Royal Oak, Michigan, where he lived for the rest of his life.
He graduated from Kimball High School in 1963. He played Little League Baseball in his younger years, loved diving and later joined the wrestling team for Kimball, where he excelled as a wrestler. Barry was always looking for ways to earn money, a real entrepreneur, his whole life.
After graduating high school, he attended MSU for a term before transferring to Ferris State University. Just shy of graduating he took a job with J.L. Hudson’s in management, where he worked for a year before entering the Army from 1967-1969. He served mainly in Panama, with a short visit to Vietnam.
When Barry returned, he returned to Hudson’s before taking a job with Del Labs. He worked for Del for 9 years, working his way up to regional manager of sales in the Midwest. After leaving Del, he started his own company, Future Star Sales.
Under that name he owned a Deli in Lansing, called Barry’s Place, a Chicken Shack in Pinckney, a firewood business and South Main Beauty Supply in Clawson, MI. He had the restaurants for about 3 years and then sold them to concentrate on the beauty supply store. He also had a wholesale business supplying Meijer and other small drug stores throughout Michigan with various beauty supplies.
He closed his store in 2015 and retired. He owned and worked on many different cars, trucks and vans throughout his life. Barry helped his dad build the cabin up north on their hunting property, where he hunted and fished for most of his life.
He enjoyed dirt biking, snowmobiling, snorkeling, golfing, cooking, gardening and camping. Barry had a lust for life and loved traveling throughout this country, especially the southwest and the Florida Keys. Barry is survived by his sister, Beverly Glushyn and brother, Robert Glushyn, his first wife, Sherrie L. Carrico, her children Kevin Quincy (Sandy), grandsons, Zack, Zane and Zeb and Pamela Knappmann (Peter), his second wife, Kimberly Hoke Klebba, her children Kristin Smith (Derek), grandsons Jackson and Tyler and Michael Klebba (Nichole), grandchildren, McCoy and Brookelyn.
He is also survived by many cousins, uncles and aunts. A committal service with military honors will be held May 17, 2019 at 10:00 am at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
