Barry McCarthy, 72 of Butler passed away on October 30, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot, PA. Born April 12, 1946 in Brockton, MA, he was the son of the late Francis McCarthy and Winifred Blakeman McCarthy. Barry was a graduate of Stonehill College in Massachusetts then attended Boston College Law School for his JD and Columbia University for his LLM.

He was a professor for the University of Pittsburgh School of Law retiring after 38 years. We bought a farm so we could say he was outstanding in his field. Surviving are his loving wife, Carol Mills McCarthy, who he married May 24, 1975, and his sisters, Laurie Kelliher of Whitman, MA and Anne Sullivan of Whitman, MA, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, John “Jack” Francis McCarthy. There will be no visitation or services. Memorial donations may be made to the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.
