Beatrice “Bea” Friedberg lived a long, full life! She passed comfortably on October 15th, in St. Pete at age 98. Bea was born July 14th, 1920 in Utica, New York to Anna and Samual Meyers.

Bea and her siblings, older brother Saul and younger sisters Ruthe and Millie, shared a remarkable bond. “The Four,” as they were known, lived their lives in lockstep, and spoke nearly every day. Bea met the love of her life, Nathaniel “Skip” Friedberg, at a bowling alley in Brooklyn, NY.

The two married October 14th, 1945 and enjoyed nearly 49 wonderful years together. Skip and Bea raised three boys, Jay, Larry and David, in the New York/New Jersey area before retiring to Florida in 1982. The couple traveled the world together in retirement, but particularly treasured their several trips to Israel.

Bea was a dedicated member of her synagogue, a voracious reader, and a life-long learner. On the 28th of February, 1987, at age 66, Bea combined all three of these passions and celebrated her Bat-Mitzvah – a plaque commemorating this proud accomplishment hung prominently by her bed until the day she died. Bea is survived by her three sons, five grandchildren; Michelle Chase (Friedberg), Daniel Friedberg, Jacob Friedberg, Justin Friedberg, and Jennifer Friedberg; three great-grandchildren Kendall, Nathaniel, and Logan Chase; and her indomitable sister Ruthe.

She will be remembered for her blinding smile, boundless vocabulary, razor wit, and incomparable chocolate chip cookies. Bea will be laid to rest, surrounded by her loving family at the Chapel Hill Cemetery – 12905 Wild Acres Road Largo, FL plot 137B-1 Menorah Gardens 2 – at 2pm today, October 17th, 2018. David C. Gross Funeral Homes, Central Avenue Chapel in St. Petersburg is serving the family.
