Benedict Manginelli, 81, of Kearny, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Hackensack University Hospital in Hackensack, New Jersey. Benedict, fondly known as “Big Ben” by his family and friends, was born on June 22, 1937 in Newark, New Jersey, where he grew up. Later in his adult life, he moved to East Newark, where he lived for many years before settling in Kearny, New Jersey about 10 years ago.

He was predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Isabella (Donato) Manginelli, his sister-in-law, Marion Manginelli, and his nephew, Joseph Manginelli. Benedict if survived by his loving siblings, Joseph Manginelli of Hazlet, New Jersey, Theresa Ferris and her husband, Lincoln, of Denville, New Jersey, and John Manginelli of Hollywood Beach, Florida, along with his cherished nieces and nephews, Colette Perfit, Mark Manginelli, Nicole Colon, Rosemarie Basile, Lisa Basile, and Angelo Basile, and 10 adored great nieces and nephews. Benedict will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home at approximately 12:30 PM. Entombment will follow at Forest Green Memorial Park Cemetery, 535 Texas Road, Morganville, New Jersey 07751.
