Obituary for Bernadine “Bernie” (Harman) Garbin GARBIN, BERNADINE “BERNIE” ROSE (HARMAN) Age 85, of Kennedy Twp. , formerly Hankey Farms, peacefully passed away April 14, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Pittsburgh on July 12, 1932.

Bernadine’s priorities were providing a loving home for her beloved husband, Tom and five children. She was a beautiful, strong-willed and resilient woman. A graduate of South Hills High School and a bookkeeper for Western Allegheny County Municipal Water Authority for 20 years.

Also was a longtime member of St. Columbkille Church and most recently St. Malachy Church. Bernadine enjoyed going to craft shows and spending time with her sisters who were her forever friends. Some of her most recent cherished times were vacationing at the beach with her family, visiting historical landmarks, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Bernie was an avid reader who enjoyed all genres of books. Bernadine spent her final days surrounded by her immediate family and the dedicated and caring staff at Harbor Senior Living of South Hills and Gateway Hospice. In addition to her beloved husband of 62 years, Tom Garbin, she leaves behind five children, Thomas Garbin (Sharon), Paul Garbin (Dorian), Daniel Garbin (Ann “Prin”), Lisa Leonard (Jim), and Christopher Garbin (Diane); 12 grandchildren, Pamela Tobias (Matt), Tom Garbin (Erin), Ryan Garbin (Gina), Steve Garbin, Matt Garbin, Megan Leonard, Alex Leonard, Luke Garbin, Andrew Leonard, Anna Leonard, David Leonard, and Jack Garbin; four great- grandchildren, Avery Tobias, Owen Tobias, Gino Garbin, and Benjamin Garbin; sister of Ruthann Makranin and Evelyn Turocy (Bill); and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, Charles Harman and Marguerite (Duffy) Harman; and her sister, Grace Jurgens. Funeral arrangements by SCHEPNER-McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC. , 412-921-3661.

Friends welcome at 165 Noble Ave. , Pittsburgh (Crafton) 15205, 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 16, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated Tuesday, April 17, 2018, 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 5718 Steubenville Pike, Robinson Twp.
