Obituary for Bernardine Cecilia Helm Bernardine Cecilia Helm of St. James, MO, formerly of Arcadia, MO, passed away Nov. 6, 2018 at her home at the age of 94 years, 5 months, and 28 days. She was born May 8, 1924 in Cape Girardeau, MO, a daughter of the late George and Anna Schaefbauer Slocum.

She was united in marriage to Roy Helm, who preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1992. To this union was born six children; Joseph Helm of Caseyville, IL, Mary Helm of Carrollton, IL, John Helm of Arnold, MO, Michael Helm of Salem, MO, Gerard Helm of St. Louis, and Rose Henry of St. James, MO.

Also surviving are two brothers; Joe and Bill Slocum of Fredericktown, MO, two sisters; Marion Gendron of Bothel, WA, and Agnes “Sister Mary Denise” of Wisconsin, 13 grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a sister Josephine Matthews. A celebration of life will be held on Fri.

Nov. 9 at 1 PM from Cole Family Funeral Home with Father Jim Unterreiner officiating. Interment will be in Arcadia Valley Memorial Park.

Visitation will begin Fri. from 10 AM to 1 PM. On line condolences may be made at www.
