Bernice S. Garbisch (nee Klein), 90, of West Bend was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 She was born on July 7, 1928 to the late Ervin and Viola (nee Moos) Klein in Sheboygan WI. She graduated from Random Lake High School. On October 8, 1949 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Garbisch in Silver Creek.
She was a member of New Horizon United Church of Christ and taught Sunday school for many years. Bernice was also a member of the Evangelism Committee and other past committees at church, and a member of the Washington County Homemakers. She sang in the choir at church for a very long time until she was almost 90.
Bernice liked to do crossword puzzles and enjoyed reading many books including Daniel Steel. She was a big Packer Fan. Bernice loved going to the barbershop quartets.
The most important thing to her was her family and she never missed sending birthday card or Anniversary card to everyone of her family. She had a love for children and babysat for many years. Bernice also worked with her son Roy and daughter-in-law Tammy at the Silver Platter in Kewaskum.
She also worked at the Samaritan in housekeeping for 10 years until she retired. Bernice will be remembered for her kind and caring spirit always bringing her warmth and peaceful presence with her. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Those Bernice leaves behind to cherish her memory include her three children, Barbara (Don) Ruplinger, Steve (Andrea) Garbisch, and Brian (Beccy) Garbisch; five grandchildren, Tracy (Beau) Coulter, Julie Ruplinger, Shiloh (Joshua) Parkinson, Amanda Garbisch-Tappa, and Kenneth Garbisch; nine great-grandchildren, Carter Coulter, Emersyn Coulter, Bennett Coulter, Kilian Covey, Lyla Covey, A’na Tappa, Sofia Rivera, Gabriel Rivera, and Theo Rivera; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Garbisch in 1971; a son, Roy Garbisch; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Garbisch; a granddaughter, Kristin Kenni Garbisch; a brother, Ralph Klein; three sisters-in-law, Ester Klein, Donna Garbisch, and Dorothy Engelman; two brothers-in-law, Ralph Garbisch and Edward Engelman. A funeral service in remembrance of Bernice will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at New Horizon United Church of Christ, 9663 State Hwy 144 North, Kewaskum.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. A special thank you to the Samaritan, where she spent several months in rehab last year and to the staff of Ivy Manor in West Bend where she lived since March. We appreciate the excellent care she received.
