Betty Belote’s Obituary Mrs. Betty Belote Cook, Age 98, of Mayfield, KY passed away Thursday May 16, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. Betty was born on June 6, 1920 in Mayfield, KY to Bernard Neal and Johnie Maddox Belote. She graduated from Mayfield High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church for the past 78 years.

She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed a love of golf, entertaining, cooking and traveling. Betty married George Dean Cook on August 28, 1940. They lived to celebrate their 77th wedding anniversary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard Neal and Johnie Maddox Belote and siblings Lillian B. Harris (Jesse), Robert G. Belote (Marie), Alice B. Purdom (Isaac Wells), John C. Belote (Mable), Bernard N. Belote, Jr. (Genevieve), Joe Belote (Virginia), Jack Belote (Beth), and Frank Belote (June). She is survived by her children, George D. Cook, Jr. (Mary Milan) of Inverness, FL, J. Timothy Cook (Pam) of Mayfield, KY, Nancy C. Stahr (Bill) of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Caroline C. Jones (Liz) of Bridgman, MI. She has 11 grandchildren; Mary Catherine Cook, Matthew Cook, Andrew Cook, Kim Cook Adams Hogancamp, Kerri Beth Cook Sutla, David Stahr, Stephen Stahr, Eric Jones, Nickolas Jones, Elizabeth Walker, and Ruth Jennifer Beckman; 28 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She has many nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00PM Sunday May 19, 2019 at the Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY Rev. Wes Fowler will officiate.

Entombment will follow in the Highland Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 12noon until 2:00PM Sunday at the funeral home. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to First Baptist Church in Mayfield or a charity of your choice.
