Betty J. Held September 01, 1931 – January 09, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Card Betty J. Held, 87, of Allentown, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Betty was the wife of the late Robert J. Held, who died in 1998. Born in Johnstown, CO she was the daughter of the late Charles and Pat A. (Sloan) Kness.

She was a computer operator in the sales department at Spirax –Sarco in Allentown for 31 years before retiring in 1997. Betty was past-president of the Fire Fighter’s Ladies Auxiliary, former secretary of the Pocono Painter’s Chapter N.S.T.D. P in Tannersville, and a member of the L.V. Chapter of Tole and Decorative Painters in Whitehall.

She was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Allentown. Survivors: Son, Robert J. Held and his wife Cindy of Allentown; brothers, John J. Kness of Loveland, CO; 3 granddaughters, Jessica, Kristin and Andrea; and 5 great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by a brother Charles R. Kness and sisters Patricia Deulen and Jennifer Lambert.

Services: Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 14, 2019 at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 E. Juniata Street, Allentown, 18103. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Allentown.

Arrangements entrusted to the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Inc. Contributions: in lieu of flowers, may be made to the church.
