Obituary for Betty J. Miles Betty J. Miles, 74, of Utica, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Heritage Health Care Center. She was born on February 13, 1944, in Cuyler, NY, the daughter of George, Sr. and Ester (Lynch) VanDee. Betty received her education in DeRuyter Schools and attended MVCC.

She was married to Richard Miles, who predeceased her. Betty worked as a Parts Assembler for Smith Corona. Betty was a loving mother who took care of anyone in need while holding them close to her heart.

She took pride in raising many children and welcoming them to her home. Betty was the foundation of the family. She loved to play Bingo and solve puzzles.

Betty is survived by her children, Tina Dellow, Jeffery Miller Sr., Jeffrey (Destiny) Miller Jr., Tajanae Miller, Dontasia Miller; siblings, Ronald VanDee and Georgia Wymyczak; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, including special niece Kathy Fairchild and cousins. She is also survived by special friends Peter, Donna, Patricia Green, Willie Jefferson and her K-9 companion Gracie Mae Miller. Betty was predeceased by her brothers Robert VanDee and George VanDee Jr. and sisters Jenny Maine and Beatrice Alexander.

There will be a Celebration of Life at a time to be announced. The family wishes to offer a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff at Heritage Health Care as well as Point Place Church, Pastor Brad, Pastor Kathy and Pastor Chris for their care and compassion shown during a very difficult time. The family would also like to thank the missionaries for their efforts in being there for Betty as needed.
