OBITUARY Betty Jean Dunn October 23, 1928 – January 9, 2019 Betty Jean Dunn, age 90, was born on October 23, 1928 in Memphis, Texas to Maggie Nola Cochran and T.J. Cochran. She passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. At the age of 72 years old, Betty decided it was time to get her high school diploma.

She took a course through the mail with Stratford Career Institute and received her High School Diploma in 2007. She even got a class ring. Betty loved cooking.

She especially enjoyed fixing hamburgers on Friday nights and steak dinners on Saturdays and having the grandkids and family over to eat. Betty loved painting by numbers and her pride and joy was a paint-by-number she did of the Lord’s Supper in 1985. She LOVED shopping and dressing up.

She loved to dance the Jitter Bug and Texas Swing and, as a young adult, she won several contests and got $5. 00 for each winning dance. Betty loved taking care of her plants and flowers and had a talent for bringing half-dead plants back to life.

Betty is survived by; son, Tony Dale Pate and wife, JoElla; son, Larry Carl Pate and wife, Cindy; sister Dorothy Mae Alexander; grandchildren, Trudy Stubblefield, Tonda Berry, Toni Johnson, Tyson Pate, Ryan Chase Pate, Chad Pate, and Sarah McWilliams; great grandchildren, Paige Robert, Will Drackley, Tyler Drackley, Destiney Pate, Sadee Crain, Hallie Morgan, Peyton Berry, Paten Johnson, Carlie Johnson, Carson Johnson, Wesley Pate, Bradley Pate, Janey Pate, Elizabeth Pate, Nathan Pate, Lily Porras, Mason McWilliams; great great grandchildren, Kensler Roberts, Alix Roberts and Juliette Crane. Betty was preceded in death by; mother, Maggie Nola Cochran and father, T.J. Cochran; brothers, John Cochran, Robert Cochran, Lester Cochran, Doyce Cochran; Junior Cochran and sister, Mamie Robertson. The family would like to give special thanks to Jessica, RN, and Mandy, LPN, from Frontier Hospice; social worker, Susan; aide, Crystal; and Daisy Gee, Beth Heitz, Sarah McWilliams, Elva Jo Hawkins, and Tabitha Ayers.

Thank you all for your help in caring for Betty. A visitation for Betty will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 13313 N Kelley Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73131. The funeral service will follow on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery Historic Chapel, 13400 N Kelley Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73131.
