Betty Jean Scurlock June 26, 1952 – February 08, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Betty Jean Scurlock, 66, of West Blocton, AL passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019. She was a longtime member of Hopewell Church of God of Prophecy. Ms. Betty retired from Lawson State Community College with 30 plus years.

Her heart was in Children’s Ministry. Betty volunteered every Wednesday for the Children’s Van Ministry. She was a loving wife and devoted mother.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Reece Julian Scurlock and her sister, Jane Shikles and her parents, Paul David and Angie Sims. Betty is survived by her son, Kevin (Kristina) Scurlock and her brother, Paul David (Annette) Sims. Church service will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Hopewell Church of God of Prophecy.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1 – 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at the Adjoining Cemetery. Pastor Randy Jones and Pastor Joey Mojica will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to Hopewell Church of God of Prophecy/Children’s Ministry, 8100 Hopewell Rd. Bessemer, AL 35022.
