Obituary for Mrs. Betty L. Harper Betty Louise Harper, 93, died peacefully on Saturday, June 9, 2018. Betty was born in Bloomfield, Missouri on July 28, 1924, the daughter of Whitt and Nezzie Mary Bennett. On June 16, 1946, she married the love of her life, Joseph Harper.
Betty worked at Kroger for over 20 years and then spent her retirement years volunteering at North East Medical Center. Betty was a supporting wife and mother, who spent her life taking care of the ones she loved. Betty’s greatest joy came from being with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She could always be found telling stories and bragging of their accomplishments to anyone that would listen. Betty loved playing cards with friends and family and was a self-proclaimed master bridge player. She always had a new puzzle being put together and her grandkids and great-grandkids loved helping her.
Betty loved hosting family holidays at her home through the years and, also often travelled out of town to visit family whenever she could, full of new stories to share and a purse full of money to hand out to grandkids. However, Betty may be most famous for the desserts she made and provided at family gatherings and always took requests for every holiday. Her homemade chocolate chip cookies, banana pudding, and numerous flavors of pies are sure to be missed by all.
Betty was a member of Holy Trinity United Methodist Church since 1970. She exhibited her love for Christ through the way she lived, always volunteering and doing for those in need. Betty was strong in her faith and knew that she would rest eternally in Heaven.
Betty is survived by her brother, Howard Bennett and wife Mary Ann; her daughter, Rebecca Ann Dagley and her husband Eugene; son, Joseph Harper and wife Donette; and daughter, Susan Cadena and her husband Val. She is also survived by grandchildren Jared Dagley and wife April; Megan Gillings and husband Dave; Ryan Dagley and wife Isis; Susan Dagley and fiancé Kaye; Alyssa Nance and husband Derek; Courtney Harper; Joseph Harper and wife Bekah; Valerie Vargas and husband Adrian; Val Cadena III and fiancé Katrina; Zachary Cadena; and 22 great-grandkids.
