Obituary for Betty Sue Russell Betty Sue Cogswell Russell, age 79, of Frankfort, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Friday, September 21, 2018. She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Charles R. “Dickie” Russell. Other survivors include daughters, Vicki (Larry T.) Smith and Patti (John) Rhea; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Whitney) Smith, Kayla (Matt) Lee, Abbey and Kelsi Sheets, Nate, Brett, and Matt Rhea; and two great-grandchildren, Beau Ryan Smith and Delta Sue Lee.
Betty was the daughter of the late, Oneta Crook and James Major Cogswell. She was a 1957 graduate of Bridgeport High School. She was employed with the Kentucky State Government for thirty years, having worked in the old Economic Security Department, Human Res and eventually retired from the Administrative Office of the Courts.
She was a lifetime member of Graefenburg Baptist Church, serving in the Children’s and Youth Departments. Pallbearers will be Greg Moore, Louis Hammond, Bobby Lee Hill, Ryan Smith, Nate Rhea, Matt Lee, Adam Stinnett, and Doug Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Naomi Sunday School Class at Graefenburg Baptist; Jimmy Russell, Bud Shely; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her beloved nephrology nurses, Debbie Massey, Vicki Cole, Kara Pendergrass, Vicki Lawson, and Vicki Powers.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Graefenburg Baptist Church with Pastors Philip Meade, Jay Padgett, and Tim Shockley officiating. Burial will follow at Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home, and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until service time at the church.
