Beulah Mae Atherton, 92, of Liberal, died Friday, May 17, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society, Liberal, Kansas. She was born January 9, 1927 to Charles Brown and Marie Bailey Brown in Hardesty Oklahoma. She grew up in Hardesty and graduated from Hardesty High School.

She married Medford Lewis Atherton on June 1, 1947 in Adams, Oklahoma. He died July of 1987. Beulah and her husband were charter members of the First Southern Baptist Church and she work as church secretary for over 30 years and still helped with counting Sundays offering until a few years ago.

She was a member of the 2nd Infantry Division Auxiliary whose emblem was an Indian Head. She is survived by a son David Atherton of Liberal. A brother Don Clover of Gatesville, Texas, and a sister Lois Nyte of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Allen, brothers Elton and Joe Brown and a sister, Mary Lou Gilmore. Visitation will be 9:00 am to 8:00 pm at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be 10:00 am at First Southern Baptist Church 621 N. Western Ave.

Liberal, Kansas with Reverend Jeremy Harris officiating Burial will follow in Liberal, Cemetery.
