Beverly “Ann” McFarland of Enid, OK passed peacefully from this world into heaven, comforted by her family on September 2, 2018. Ann recently celebrated her 80th Birthday, born August 24th, 1938. She was born in Monterey Park, CA to Carrie Sellers Sanders and Charles Smith.

She grew up in Indiana, before moving to Sapulpa, OK. She loved to share her stories of riding the train from Indiana to Amory, MS to visit her Grandpa and Grandma Sellers for the summers. Ann graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1956.

After graduation, she moved to Muskogee, OK to begin nursing school. There is where she met the love of her life, James McFarland. They were married in 1957 and blessed with 5 children.

They moved from Muskogee, OK to Dustin, OK in 1960 and then to Wetumka, OK in 1965 where they raised their children. They enjoyed a wonderful and full life together until James’s death in 1995. In 2000, Ann moved to Enid, OK.

Ann continued her nursing education at Seminole Junior College and obtained her RN in 1975. Later she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma. Ann loved her long career in nursing.

She worked for Dr. Lloyd Williams for many years. After obtaining her RN she worked in hospitals in Wetumka, Holdenville, Henryetta and Enid from ER to Nursing Supervisor and all areas in between. She continued her love of nursing and sharing that with her many students while she taught nursing at the Vo-techs in Wetumka and Enid.

Ann loved music, traveling and helping others. She was member of the Hyechka Music Club, Lions Club, Baptist Women and many other organizations. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Enid where she joined them on a trip to the Holy Lands.

She enjoyed her travels all over the USA, Alaska, Mexico, Israel, Nicaragua, Jamaica, Panama Canal and Cayman Islands. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband James McFarland and son Richard Kent McFarland. She is survived by daughter, Glaetta Ray and husband Kim of Edmond, OK; son, James McFarland of Enid, OK; daughter, Barbara Stevens and husband Chris of Key West, FL; and son, Adam McFarland and wife Carrie of Holdenville, OK; grandchildren Jamie and Jesse Cook of Edmond, OK; Brent and Amanda Ray of Wetumka, OK; Emily and John Fletcher of Shawnee, OK; Erin and Bryan James of Durant, OK; Amanda and John Zuniga of Ft Worth, TX; Daniel McFarland of Milwaukee, WI; Alex Stevens of Key West, FL; Cody McFarland and Belle McFarland of Holdenville, OK; great-grandchildren, Lauren Fletcher, Carson Fletcher, Paisley Cook, Canaan Boman, Elizabeth Boman, Brian Ray and Jackson Ray.

As well as many other extended family and friends. Special Thanks to Autumn Leaves Memory Care, Hometown Health Care and Sooner Hospice in Edmond, OK for the amazing care they provided to Mom during the last year of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Mom’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Breast Cancer Foundation or any other charity of your choice.
