Beverly Kay Sabo CONTINENTAL – Beverly Kay Sabo, 57, of Continental passed away peacefully at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 4, 2019 at her home. She had been courageously battling stage 4 breast cancer for one year. Bev was a dedicated loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her father Thomas Chandler and a granddaughter, Olivia Batdorf. She was born May 16, 1961 in Asheville, N. C. to Mary Jo (Roberts) Chandler of Marshall N. C. and the late Everett (Tom) Chandler. Bev was a 1979 graduate of Elyria High School.

On August 1, 1981 she married Joseph M. Sabo and they had three daughters together. In May 2014, Bev proudly received a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management from Malone University. In 2016, Bev was given the opportunity to become the Treasurer of Continental Local Schools.

This was an important achievement in her life that she worked hard for and a job that she loved. She had worked within the school systems for 20 years, including Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center and Tri-County Educational Service Center. Previous jobs in the past included positions at Elyria Memorial Hospital and Amherst Hospital.

Some favorite past-times included quilting, watching Sci-fi movies, shopping and collecting Vera Bradley. She volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader for several years in Ashland County, OH as well. She cherished time well spent with family.

Bev enjoyed weekend retreats with family over the summers where many memories were made together. She also loved her travels to Maine, especially Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. She said it was one of the most beautiful places she had seen on Earth.

God granted her the strength to see it one last time this past summer. She was a member of North Mount Zion Church in Continental. Bev knew Christ as her Savior which brought her, and the family, peace in her transition into Heaven.

Bev lives on and is now enjoying a reunion with her father, Tom Chandler, granddaughter Olivia Batdorf and other loved ones that have gone before. Survivors include: Joseph Sabo her loving husband of 37 years; three children, Rachel Sabo of Shreve, OH, Rebecca (Nick) Peckinpaugh of Pandora, OH, Melody Sabo of Massillon, OH; 1 granddaughter: Alexis Batdorf of Shreve and a brother, Jeff (Valarie) Chandler of Columbus, OH. Her memory will live on through her family until they join her.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at North Mount Zion Church, Continental with Pastor Brent Gibson officiating. Visitation will from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental and 10 A.M. until time of service Wednesday at North Mount Zion Church. The family thanks everyone for the outpouring of love, prayers and support.

Bev had shared many times her appreciation, thankfulness and amazement at just how many people were praying for her and had sent much love her way. She was touched from receiving prayers, notes, cards and even a prayer quilt from people known and not known. Bev was truly grateful.
