Billy Joe Gibson, age 74, of Roan Mountain, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from his residence, surrounded by his family. Bill was born in Johnson City, Tennessee to the late James and Jessie Mable Barlow Gibson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Cecil Gibson; a sister-in-law, Violet; and one niece, Penny.

Bill was the owner and operator of G & P Construction. He was a very hard worker and loved talking to people. He was an excellent family provider who loved his cats and trucks.

Bill was very loved by his entire family. Those left to cherish his wonderful memories include his lifelong companion and the love of his life, Sarah Pritchard, of the home; Sarah’s children, whom he considered his own, Marie, Brian (Lisa), Derek (girlfriend-Whitney); several grandchildren; great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews: Wanda, Tammy, Rhonda, Karen Ann, Robin, Tracy, Jessie, C.L., Charlie, Robert, B.J., and Jimmy; two sisters-in-law, Ava and Sheree; and two special friends, Teresa Marlowe and Misty Clevenger. A service to celebrate the life of Billy Joe Gibson will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 2, 2019 in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain with Pastor Michael Blair and Chaplin Chris Hughes, officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Thursday. The graveside service will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Bill’s sons and grandsons.

The family would like to thank all the family, friends and neighbors that called and sat with him during his time of illness, also to Amedysis Hospice for the care and support shown to Bill and his family.
