Bill’s Obituary Bill Sims William Austin “Bill” Sims, 71, of Maryville, died Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, MO. Services are pending. Bill was born in Mexico on Oct.

14, 1947, the son of Garl and Velma (Belcher) Sims. He was a 1965 graduate from Centralia High School and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. He served in Vietnam from 1966-1967.

He was a Sergeant, a special weapons and tactics instructor and platoon leader. In Sept. 1968 he joined the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

He resigned from the patrol in the mid 70’s and finished his working career as an over the road truck driver. On Sept. 20, 1969 he married Sharon Rongey in Princeton, MO and she survives at the family home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, William Shane (Janara) Sims of Maryville and Lisa (T.J.) Peacher of St. Joseph; three grandchildren, Halley Sims, Chase Sims, and Brylee Peacher; his mother Velma Allen of Mexico; siblings, Tom (Sue) Sims of Raymore, MO, Martha (Ron) Azdell of Mexico, Warren (Cheryl) Sims of Blue Springs, and Deanna Sims of Centralia; a sister-in-law Kathy Sims of Mexico; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Garl Sims, a brother Darrell Sims and his in-laws James and Mary Rongey. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Semper Fi Fund, in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265.
